Brief History
The University of Basra holds bonds of the relationship with the community to achieve one of its goals, namely community service, thus the Continuing Education Center was established in 1987 and has been the university’s gateway to society , as it has devoted its work to establishing workshops and training and qualification courses for employees in all institutions in addition to developing the university’s staff. A center of Teaching Methods has been merged with it in (2020) to become (Development and Continuing Education Center) to provide various training programs for teachers, including qualification for new faculty members who graduate from non-educational colleges, and its duration is (45) days, which is in line with international standards and development courses for faculty members who are at the service for their development.
The duration of (two weeks) and qualifying courses for new faculty members who graduated from educational colleges, for a period of (two weeks) as well, and as soon as the Corona pandemic crisis occurred in the world , the continuing education centers emerged with all their energies to manage and mitigate the crisis, and the Continuing Education Center at the University Basra was the first center to conduct electronic tests for the trainees to protect them from of Corona. Wokorkshops started as well as online courses, scientific and cultural seminars, all programs and training on all platforms for students and teachers, opening classes and forms for preliminary examinations for all students in all Iraqi universities. Many educational lessons have been opened that are broadcasted on different platforms for a period of (12) hours per day in service of the educational process in addition to workshops and courses open to all state institutions and even special courses for all security institutions, according to the needs, and the center continues to meet the needs of the community and the university to be the vista overlooking from the university on society to fulfill all its needs in line with intellectual and technology progress.
