
The Continuing Education and Development Center at the University of Basra organized a workshop about “ Financial Accounting”
The objectives of the workshop, are to acquaint the participants
with international accounting standards and to provide them with the skills to prepare accounting treatments, reports, and financial statements by international standards, to provide them with the latest advanced practices in the field of accounting, and to identify the foundations of preparing and presenting financial statements and accounting policies.
The workshop which was presented by the teacher, Sarah Abbas, included the concept of financial accounting, what is the role of financial reports, the importance of financial accounting and its types, principles of financial accounting, financial analysis and types of financial statements, including the income statement, financial position list, cash flow list, journal record, general ledger record, trial balance, and the role of the accountant Enterprise Finance and Enterprise Resource Planning.
In the end of workshop,the recommendation was on the need to develop accounting programs that state institutions and departments work with in order to keep pace with developed countries and to create new programs that help the accountant with the preparation of an advanced database that helps him to accomplish his tasks with the necessary accuracy and speed, and he must work according to generally accepted accounting principles that are subject to the International Accounting Standards Board.
