
The Center for Development and Continuing Education at the University of Basra organized a workshop on the references of Arab history before Islam.
The aim of the workshop is to introduce the most important references of Arab history before Islam to researchers, scholars, postgraduate students, and preliminary studies.
The workshop, presented by Dr. Shaker Majeed Kazem, included introducing the importance of studying the history of the Arabs before Islam and inscriptions in the history of the Arabs before Islam, introducing the Greek and Roman classical references and the information they mentioned about the history of the Arabs before Islam, the importance of the Torah, the importance of the Holy Qur’an, and the importance of pre-Islamic poetry.What is mentioned by them is considered references on the history of the Arabs before Islam, as well as Muslim historians, the most prominent of whom are Obaid bin Shriya Al-Jarhami and Wahb bin Munabbih
And Hisham bin Muhammad bin Al-Saeb Al-Kalbi, Abu Ubaidah Muammar bin Al-Muthanna Al-Taymi, Hamza Al-Isfahani, Muhammad bin Jarir Al-Tabari, Ahmed bin Ishaq Al-Yaqoubi, Al-Hassan bin Ahmed Al-Hamedani, and Yaqut Al-Hamwi
and Jawad Ali.
Finally, it is recommendd to hold workshops for postgraduate students in the Islamic history specialty to introduce the references of the history of the Arabs before Islam because of their importance in preparing and completing their research and projects.
