The Development and Continuing Education Center at the University of Basra, in cooperation with the Faculty of Nursing, organized a course on safety and first aid. The course aims to train participants to treat some emergency cases that occur at home, on the road or in the workplace to preserve the life of the injured, minimize risks as much as possible and reach the health staff The course, which was presented by Dr. Ahmed Thamer Saud, included several theoretical and practical activities on simulated dummies, role-playing, the use of laboratory devices such as (pressure devices, stethoscopes, and CPR stations) for shock cases with practicality, how to measure the vital signs of the patient and know the normal and abnormal with practicality, choking cases, especially in children, bleeding cases, epistaxis, and heatstroke. The course was recommended to be effective theoretically and practically, and to be quarterly in order to spread community health awareness
