The Continuing Education Center at the University of Basrah, in collaboration with the College of Education for Women, organized an online workshop entitled “The Concept of Statistics.”

The workshop aimed to highlight the significance of statistics and illustrate its applications in daily life and across various scientific fields. It particularly emphasized the role of statistics in educational and psychological counseling, its use in diagnosis, program development, and the evaluation of program effectiveness.

Delivered by Dr. Rafif Abdulhafidh Al-Riyahi and Lecturer Nidaa Qasim Mohammed, the workshop addressed the origins and development of statistics, the distinction between descriptive and inferential statistics, and showcased its applications in medicine, economics, media, education, and educational and psychological counseling.
