The Center for Continuing Education at the University of Basrah, in collaboration with the College of Education for Women, organized an online workshop titled “The Role of Universities in Combating Drug Abuse.”

The workshop aimed to raise awareness within the university community about the dangers of drugs to social and health structures, as well as to highlight preventive measures.

Lectures were delivered by Dr. Rafif Abdulhafidh Al-Riyahi, Dr. Sinan Saeed Al-Asadi, and Lecturer Saif Jassim Mohammed Ali. The sessions addressed the psychological and behavioral causes of addiction, the physical and mental effects of drug use, and an overview of anti-drug legislation. They also emphasized the role of students in promoting a culture of commitment, while presenting strategies for university counseling, on-campus awareness campaigns, and real-life successful experiences.
