University of Basrah Hosts Lecture on Academic Supervision of Theses and Research in the Educational Specialization

The Center for Development and Continuing Education at the University of Basrah organized a lecture on academic supervision of theses and research, as part of the Fifth Teaching Methods Course within the Educational Specialization, Module Eight.

The lecture aimed to familiarize trainees with the concept of academic supervision for undergraduate and postgraduate students’ theses and research projects.

Delivered by Dr. Zainab Faleh Salem, the lecture defined academic supervision as the process of guiding and supporting researchers by a specialized academic supervisor throughout the preparation of their theses or research projects.

The session emphasized that an academic supervisor should possess distinguished academic and practical experience, have deep expertise in the research field under supervision, and conduct supervision based on credibility and ethical standards. Supervisors must respect researchers’ privacy and avoid exploiting their research findings for personal gain.
