The continuing Education and Development Center at  The University of Basra organized a workshop about the methodology of scientific research between theory and practice using the (spss) program in light of the qualifying course held by the center for postgraduate studies (masters and doctorates )who wish to obtain a license for the teaching profession.

The workshop aims to introduce how to conduct scientific research, starting from selecting the topic and ending with the results which are achieved in light of the subject and using the SPSS program.

The workshop which is presented by Dr. Amer Abd Al-Nabi Al-Abadi included how to define the research problem, its objectives, its hypotheses, the limits of research and the definition of terminology, and areas of benefit from previous studies to follow scientific research methods in the field of specialization, and to prepare data collection tools, and to draw research conclusions in light of the research results and recommendations. And proposals based on them, as well as an indicative of the sources

And methods of documenting it in the body of the research, and the list of sources. the practical side included introducing researchers to the program statistics for the social sciences(spss), starting with entering the program, and the main pages in it, then how to naming the variables, enter data, and reach methods of using appropriate statistical means to analyze the data, and to achieve the goals.

At the end of the workshops, the recommendation was that researchers must study the topic of scientific research deeply, theoretically and practically, since they joined postgraduate studies as far as the scientific research is the second main concern of the university subject
