The Center for Development and Continuing Education at the University of Basra organized an online workshop on academic databases: their importance and objectives for their use
The aim of the workshop, which is part of a developmental training course for faculty members, is to demonstrate the importance and features of the four databases covered by the workshop: google Scholar, ResearchGate, Publons, ORCID, and their role in facilitating the process of searching for scientific sources and research archiving of the sources used.
The workshop presented by Dr. Ahmed Saddam Abdel-Saheb included the interlocutor, including an introduction and the purpose of using these rules (each rule was explained separately), the most important features of each rule and how to register (the registration steps for each rule were explained separately), questions and comments
In the end, the workshop recommended the need to open accounts in the four rules that it mentioned because of their importance in facilitating access to scientific sources, as well as the possibility of communicating with researchers in various countries of the world, following up on new research outputs, and opening scientific discussions with the owners of the corresponding specialties, in a way that enhances the level of scientific knowledge among academics
