Basra University arranges a course in standard bidding documents for indexing and classification

The Center for Development and Continuing Education at the University of Basra set a course in standard bidding documents and machine-readable indexing (Resource Description and Availability RDA)

The aim of the course is to provide the human resources working in Basra University libraries with modern data about modern automated indexing (machine-readable indexing) by clarifying crowns, indicators and subfields and how to use them through the examples that were touched upon, explained and clarified, knowing that at the beginning of the lecture examples of indexing were clarified Traditional indexing and its comparison with examples of modern indexing (machine-readable indexing).

 

 The course was presented by the Lecturer, Abboud, T.T.  It included the rules of machine-readable indexing (RDA) for non-printed materials such as bodies and consisted of displaying examples on the display screen of solved models through how to enter information according to the crowns, indicators and sub-fields of the main entrance field, the title field, the publication data field and the physical description field Notes field, and follow-up data field.

In the end, the recommendation was to develop human resources periodically or annually with recent developments in the field of modern automated indexing (RDA). Also, it is vital to

Subject all human resources working in Basra University libraries to courses on modern indexing of the rules of resource description and availability (RDA) and work on how to apply them in their libraries. It is necessary to increase the time of this course in order to provide a broad explanation of the modern applications of automatic indexing.
