
The Center for Development and Continuing Education at the University of Basra runs an online symposium titled " Extra-Cognitive Learning and Education "
The symposium aims to train the faculty members of teaching methods, and to train teachers for learning and teaching metacognitive skills. The workshop presented by Jassim,R. (Ph.D) which includes the nature and benefits of thinking, and metacognitive thinking skills for both of teacher and student. And then to show some of the skills and supra-cognitive applications that the teacher can use personally to develop his mental skill. Thus, he can teach them to his students to support their learning process and to improve their academic achievement. After that to help students for their later performance in the labor market.
In the end, the recommendation was that metacognitive skills should be generalized in the process of teaching students. It is also vital for teachers, considering that these skills have become necessary in the modern educational process, as proven by many studies and research around the world.
