The Center for Development and Continuing Education at the University of Basra organized a course on cataloging and classification

The aim of the course is to familiarize the participants with raising the level of human resources working in the central library and other university libraries in the field of cataloging and classification.

The course, presented by Dr. Amal Abdel-Rahman Abdel-Wahed, included an introduction to cataloging and their importance in libraries and information centers, as well as the nature of traditional information retrieval systems and the types of traditional and modern classification systems, as well as defining the types of index cards and preparing practical models

In the end, the recommendation was to prepare intensive courses in the field of cataloging and classification, and to follow up on recent developments in this field to raise the level of human resources and develop their expertise.
