
The Center for Development and Continuing Education at the University of Basra organized a workshop on Meeting Management. The objective of the workshop is to provide participants with skills in conducting effective meetings and leading work committees. It aims to enhance participants' capabilities and equip them with the necessary skills to prepare and write minutes and reports for meetings and committees. The workshop covers topics such as formulating reports, stages and steps of preparation and study, analyzing behavioral and technical aspects of report preparation and writing in a scientifically correct manner. The workshop was delivered by Dr. Arfat Nasser Jasim.
The workshop covered important definitions of meetings, roles of meeting participants, types of meetings, influential forces in meetings, and important discussions that should take place during meetings, such as problem-solving. It emphasized the importance of scheduling regular weekly or quarterly meetings, preparing the necessary materials before the meetings, and setting the agenda.
In conclusion, the recommendation was made to schedule meetings and notify participants in advance so they can be prepared to attend. It is important for meeting participants to have expertise in the meeting's subject matter, arrive on time, allocate specific time for each agenda item to ensure a well-coordinated and productive meeting, avoid unnecessary discussions and topics unrelated to the meeting agenda, in order to achieve the desired outcomes
