The Center for Development and Continuing Education at the University of Basra organized a lecture on the fundamentals of measurement and evaluation for the humanities specialization as part of the updated teaching methods course for the southern region.
The aim of the lecture, which is part of the updated teaching methods course for the southern region within the humanities specialization, is to equip new faculty members who hold advanced degrees (Master's - Doctorate) with the essential skills needed to design measurement tools and the process of correcting them.
The lecture, presented by Dr. Haidar Abdul Zahra Alwan, a faculty member and director of the Continuing Education Center at the University of Maysan, and Dr. Hossam Ahmed Ali, a faculty member at the College of Basic Education at the University of Maysan, covered concepts of measurement, evaluation, and assessment, their types, and how to employ them in the teaching process. It included distinguishing between types of scales in terms of usage, differentiating between types of evaluation, designing a good test, and formulating objective and essay questions.
