The Centre for Development and Continuous Learning at the University of Basrah has prepared a

virtual workshop related to Teaching Methods: Mixed Methods Learning! The aim of the session

– which was part of Teaching Methods Course for Teaching Staff - is to prepare, train, and

introduce teaching staff to teaching methods, specially learning through mixed methods! The

workshop, presented by Dr. Asaad Chasib Hamood, included a summary introduction to the most

renounced traditional and recent teaching approaches, with a detailed discussion of the classical

(traditional) teaching methods that is centred on the teacher, and the recent ones, centred on the

learner, along with the importance of using both. The recommendation was in favour of adopting

both approaches in order to raise the learners’ thinking to the fourth level – the enhanced level
