Basra University organizes a workshop on metacognitive learning and education

The Center for Development and Continuing Education at the University of Basra organized an online workshop on metacognitive learning and education

The aim of the workshop, which is part of a developmental training course for faculty members of teaching methods, is to provide new teachers with skills for learning and teaching metacognitive skills.

The workshop, presented by Dr. Refaat Abdullah Jassim, included an introduction to the nature and benefits of thinking, and metacognitive thinking skills for the teacher and student alike. And then to show some of the skills and supra-cognitive applications that the teacher can use personally to develop his mental skill, as well as teach them to his students to enhance their learning process and improve their academic achievement, and their later performance in the labor market.

In the end, the recommendation was to generalize the use of metacognitive skills in the process of teaching students, as well as in preparing teachers, considering that these skills have become necessary in the modern educational process, as proven by many studies and research around the world
