The lecturer, Dr. Khawla Hassan Hammoud, Director of the Center for Development and Continuing Education, participated in the scientific symposium on (the phenomenon of drug abuse and psychotropic substances in the Iraqi society), which was organized by the Continuing Education Unit - College of Arts at the University of Basra in cooperation with the Basra Police Command. The symposium was attended by qualified specialists and the participation of a number of officers The governorate police leadership in this field, in addition to the presence of elite professors

 The topics of the symposium included the phenomenon of drug abuse and the reasons for the spread of the phenomenon of drug abuse and the position of the Iraqi legislator on drug crime and the treatment of drug abuse phenomenon

In the end, the recommendation was to increase the number of awareness seminars and publish awareness posters to repel these attacks that threaten societal peace and the future of the country.
