
The Center for Development and Continuing Education at the University of Basra organized a course on the art of writing formal letters
The aim of the official correspondence course is to acquaint the employee with the ways and methods required to write the official letter so that it is of an acceptable quality appropriate to the reputation of the institution and to avoid errors and inappropriate words. To provide the employee with experience in the field of writing official letters and to introduce him to the importance of maintaining the appropriate form of the book in terms of linguistic and aesthetic terms.
The course presented by Dr. Mezher Abdel-Sada Hanin included the definition of official letters from an administrative and technical point of view, the definition of the requirements for writing an official letter and the matters to be taken into account when writing an official letter. Technical matters to be taken into account when writing an official letter, a review of some official books
Differentiating between the book and the administrative matter, professionalism, comprehensible reading of the speech, correcting linguistic errors, acquiring administrative communication skills and building a strong working relationship
In the end, the recommendation was the necessity of in-depth reading of the official books before sending, organizing and arranging the external form of the book in terms of font and size of the paper, knowing the type of the official letter and the party to which it was sent, taking into account the style of the speech according to position and social status, clarity of the book, ease of understanding and comprehension, and that the book contains accurate and correct information distortion free
