
The Center for Development and Continuing Education at the University of Basra, in cooperation with the College of Nursing, organized a symposium on breast cancer, early detection and treatment methods
The aim of the symposium is to introduce and educate the target group about breast cancer in order to increase knowledge about early detection methods in order to reduce or reduce advanced cases of the disease and thus reduce mortality rates for women and educate the target group about surgical and chemotherapy treatments to increase community awareness to encourage infected women to accept the available methods without hesitation in order to implement the treatment plan according to the internationally approved protocols.
The symposium presented by a group of doctors included Both Dr. Sajjad Salem Issa, Dr. Ahmed Ziyara Khalaf, Dr. Zainab Kamel Dahi and Dr. Naba Kassem Ajami presented
a brief history of breast cancer with reference to the methods used in the past for diagnosis and treatment, the concept of early detection and how to conduct self-examination, clinical examination and radiographic examination were discussed. They gave a lecture on the stages of breast cancer development and the relationship of the progression of the pathological stage with the rate of cure, and the symptoms and clinical signs of breast cancer were reviewed, as well as the methods of diagnosis using radiology, ultrasound, magnetic resonance, and the available surgical treatment according to the clinical stage, as well as the role of chemotherapy treatments in breast cancer was reviewed.
In the end, it is recommended that inviting women and girls to review the early detection clinics for breast cancer, which are spread in four governmental hospitals, free of charge, without any prior appointments, and with all smoothness and care by a female cadre to preserve the privacy of women,Urge women with breast cancer to complete the chemotherapy protocol regardless of the stage and extent of the disease
