The University of Basra organized a workshop on the Civil Service Law and the University Service Law

The objective of the workshop was to familiarize the participants with the basic principles of both laws.

The workshop, presented by lecturer Batool Majid Jassim, covered topics such as the application and basic definitions of the laws, permanent employees, higher authorities, direct supervisors, financial privileges for employees, annual allowances, promotions, and benefits. It also discussed regular, sick, and study leaves, as well as the legal provisions for transfers, secondments, and loans.

The workshop highlighted the privileges granted to employees under the Civil Service Law and the University Service Law. It emphasized the implementation of these laws, identified the categories covered by them, and shed light on the important amendments made to the Civil Service Law and their impact on the public sector and the categories covered by the law.

In conclusion, the recommendation was made to intensify courses related to explaining public service laws, ensuring that public employees are informed about important decisions and directives issued by the Council of Ministers regarding the implementation of certain provisions and regulations of the Civil Service Law and the University Service Law. It was also suggested to develop informative plans and materials within administrative units to convey legal information to the majority of employees working in government departments and institutions
