The Center for Development and Continuing Education at the University of Basra has organized an online a lecture on Meeting Management as part of a training course for the skills and responsibilities of middle management. The aim of the lecture is to highlight the importance of meetings and to introduce middle and senior leaders to the essential components of meetings, their goals, and the outcomes that can be achieved through effective meetings.
The lecture, delivered by Dr. Arfat Nasser Jasim Al-Yousif, covered the definition of meetings, the roles of meeting participants, types of meetings, influential forces in meetings, and important discussions that should take place during meetings such as problem-solving, scheduling, and preparation of necessary materials before and after the meetings. The lecture concluded with recommendations on the importance of scheduling meetings in advance and notifying participants in a timely manner, ensuring that attendees have the necessary expertise related to the topic of the meeting, being punctual, allocating time for each agenda item, avoiding unnecessary discussions and irrelevant topics, and ensuring that meetings are well-coordinated to achieve desired results
