The University of Basra, in collaboration with the Department of History at the College of Arts, organized a seminar on "Genocide in the Modern Age

The seminar aimed to shed light on the role of wars in society, their future impacts, and the demographic distortions they left in population geography.

It addressed the refutation of their allegations against the Ottoman Empire and the modification of their Sevres Treaty to establish a state for them in Anatolia, concluding with the signing of the Lausanne Treaty in 1923, which ended their existence in Anatolia.

The seminar also discussed the genocide of indigenous populations in the Americas, specifically the Red Indians, highlighting the brutal methods adopted by settlers and the horrifying massacres perpetrated by the English and the Spanish.

In conclusion, the recommendation emphasized the necessity of conducting a study on the psychological impact of wars and genocide on the population's psychology in the future, as well as the demographic changes caused by genocide in population geography
