The University of Basrah organizes a lecture about "teaching methods towards blended learning according to the updated curriculum for the Teaching and Learning unit

The Continuing Education and Development Centre at the University of Basrah organized a course about" teaching methods"

The objective of the lecture, which is part of the updated curriculum for the southern region within the agricultural specialization, is for the trainee to understand the difference between teaching and learning, and the important theories, methods, and approaches used in teaching that later reflect on permanently changing the behaviour of individuals, students, or trainees positively.

The lecture, which was presented by Dr Mohannad Abdul Hussain Aboud, a lecturer at the College of Agriculture at the University of Basrah, included defining blended learning and how it differs from traditional teaching, reasons for the importance of transitioning from traditional to blended learning, and the main challenges facing blended learning. It also clarified the vocabulary of the Teaching Methods course towards integrating learning, how to calculate grades, what teaching and learning are, the difference between them, some practical activities and questions for assessing trainees, along with brainstorming questions.

The boundaries of applying theories of teaching and learning, some modern teaching methods, criteria for selecting the appropriate teaching method, and conditions for learning were also discussed.

 At the end of the lecture, the presenter recommended emphasising the necessity for teachers to distinguish between teaching and learning and to have full knowledge that the goal of the educational process is learning and imparting scientific skills to the student, and to utilize all educational means for this purpose. The recommendation also stated that participation in the Teaching Methods course towards blended learning should be a condition for appointment or transfer to the teaching staff and for academic promotion.
