The Center for Development and Continuing Education at the University of Basra held a lecture on the digital content development unit, which is the fourth unit of the teaching methods course towards blended learning for the administrative specialization.
The aim of the lecture, which is part of the updated curriculum teaching methods course for the southern region within the administrative specialization, was to introduce trainees to the Learning Management System (LMS), the preparation of PowerPoint presentation slides, and the creation of interactive electronic lectures.
The lecture, presented by Dr. Rafid Abduljabbar Mohammed, a faculty member at the College of Medicine at the University of Basra, began with a discussion on the Learning Management System (LMS), its features, and examples. It compared synchronous and asynchronous e-learning and how to utilize technology in blended learning. There was a detailed discussion on how to prepare efficient PowerPoint presentation slides, covering aspects such as slide color selection, font size and color, and the inclusion of images and videos. The lecture also addressed how to cater to different learning styles during in-person teaching.
The third part of the training session focused on methods for increasing student interaction in synchronous online lectures, which helps in achieving the educational objectives set by the instructor.
In conclusion, it was recommended that university professors increase their awareness of all aspects related to teaching methods.
