Basra University Hosts a Lecture on the Ethics of the Teaching Profession for the Sixth Unit of the Teaching Methods Course for Administrative Specialization

The Center for Development and Continuing Education at Basra University held a lecture on the ethics of the teaching profession for the sixth unit of the updated curriculum of the Teaching Methods course for the southern region, focusing on administrative specialization. The objective of the lecture was to enhance the university professor's capacity to understand ethical behavior and reinforce their ethical framework when dealing with uncertain environments in decision-making.

                                                

The lecture, delivered by Dr. Mahmoud Dakhel Abdul Karim Al-Khafaji, a faculty member at the College of Administration and Economics at the University of Dhi Qar, covered a range of topics. These included defining the general and behavioral objectives, differentiating between the concepts of ethics and morals, and emphasizing the professor's role in facilitating student comprehension through the use of blended teaching methods and objective assessment. These methods contribute to motivating students to participate in discussions, creating an effective learning environment, and maintaining impartiality among all students. Additionally, it addressed several unethical behaviors to avoid due to their significant impact on shaping students' characters by modeling their professors.

The lecture also incorporated various activities, including brainstorming techniques, cooperative learning, discussions, and assigning final tasks to trainees related to the unit on the ethics of the teaching profession.

In conclusion, there was a recommendation to reinforce the value system among professors by presenting cases that involve adopting principles, beliefs, and ethical values in decision-making.
