The Center for Development and Continuing Education at Basra University held a lecture on the ethics of the teaching profession for the sixth unit of the updated curriculum of the Teaching Methods course for the southern region, focusing on medical specialization.
The objective of the lecture was to understand the methods contrary to the teaching profession and the responsibilities of the teacher towards the institution, colleagues, and students.
The lecture, delivered by Dr. Qutaiba Muslim Dawood, a faculty member at the Al-Zahraa College of Medicine at Basra University, covered:
- Definition of professional ethics
- Duties of the teacher
- Professional ethics in student evaluation
- Methods contrary to professional ethics
- External and internal challenges to the teaching profession
In conclusion, the recommendation emphasized the necessity of adhering to professional ethics in teaching, in relation to the educational institution, superiors, subordinates, colleagues, and students. It also stressed the importance of creating an ideal atmosphere for education and development
