The President of the University of Basrah, Dr. Mohanad Jawad Kazem, inaugurated the virtual dissection table project at the College of Medicine, equipped with 4K technology and high-resolution clarity. This groundbreaking project marks the first implementation of its kind across Iraqi universities, in the presence of academic and official dignitaries.
Dr. Mohanad Jawad Kazem stated that the opening of the virtual dissection lab represents a remarkable step towards enhancing the practical, applied, and scientific aspects of medical students' education. It strengthens their skills by simulating real-life dissection scenarios through an advanced technological system.
The importance of this table lies in providing an interactive virtual learning environment in human anatomy. It includes multiple specialized programs to help students delve into the smallest details of the human body and explore detailed information about each of its components.
Virtual dissection tables are an integrated system comprising both hardware and software components. The hardware includes educational tables, high-resolution display devices, and a robust instructor platform (seven-core), which is resistant to scratches, breakage, liquids, and high temperatures, and is capable of long operating hours. The software features include virtual anatomical programs and licensed lecture management systems. These components are interconnected via an internal wired network system, facilitating lecture management for instructors and practical applications for students.
