The Continuing Education and Development

Center at the University of Basra organized an online workshop on Educational Goals within The Development and Rehabilitation Project.

The objective of the workshop, which is part of the Teaching Methods course, is the statement and detailing of the definition of the educational goals, their importance in the teaching process, and the educational experience of the participants.

 The workshop, which was presented by Dr. Amer Abdul-Nabi Al-Abadi, included the importance of educational goals, the foundations of goals identification, and the levels and classification of educational goals.

 The workshop called for the importance of the faculty members' knowledge of educational objectives because it is among the important elements of the curriculum, and it has a major role in developing the educational process, if it is well formulated and presented into practical reality in an observable and measurable way.  It is not just related to information,  but rather includes skills, ways of thinking, attitudes, habits, tendencies, and values.  The problem of choice facing teaching a particular subject cannot be in an organized scientific way except in the light of specific and clear educational goals, which are represented in all aspects of previous experience.

 In the end, the recommendation was to continue presentinh these courses to qualify new faculty members in Iraqi universities and to promote an atmosphere of professional development for the faculty members
